In 1974, the Tate family began making wines in the Margaret River region. Tate Wine is the umbrella organisation spanning across Franklin Tate Estates, Miles From Nowhere and the newest edition of Small World. We have a simple goal, make great wine. This intention elaborates into creating award-winning wines that cater to all ages and stages across our brands. A unique marker across our ranges is the youthfulness and isolation of Western Australian wines, in particular Margaret River. We appreciate the potential of this superb region and commit ourselves to bottling it up with love and passion.
Our current winemaking team of Frederique Perrin, Julian Scott, Beau O’Loughlin Emiliano Secco and Bronnley Cahill possess a diverse range of experience and specialties, with experience across Australia and internationally. The winemaking team combines their knowledge of traditional methods and styles to bring out the best characteristics of Margaret River wines.
We were founded and are owned by Franklin & Heather Tate. The Tate family has been making wines since patriarch John Tate co-founded Evans & Tate in 1969. Later Franklin and Heather established Miles From Nowhere & Franklin Tate Estates. With equal appreciation of making great wines to drinking them, our team has a good balance of work and play. We don’t take things too seriously, unless it is making great wine.
