Our Icon wines reflects the path that has led us here today. Our passion originates with John Tate, taking in the vast land of Margaret River and knowing there was prosperity beneath his feet. With this knowledge he committed himself to making wines that were the authentic representation of the region.

Under the guidance of Franklin Tate, we have a determined winemaking team who craft wines aligned with the values and intentions of John Tate. Leading that team is our incredible Director of Winemaking, Frederique Perrin. Followed by our Senior Winemaker, Julian Scott and Viticulturist, Beau O’Loughlin.

Our Small Batch ‘Best Blocks’ reserve range is crafted from exceptional parcels of fruit. Our winemakers carefully review the vineyard throughout the vintage and hand-select the ‘Best Blocks’ for each varietal. Ensuring each wine is lovingly managed from vine to glass.

Our team focuses their attention on creating wines that capture the soul of the ‘terroirs’ and the varietals that truly represent the beautiful, world-class Margaret River region.

We love the Margaret River region; sometimes dusty, sometimes lush, but beautifully isolated, it allows us to focus on crafting wines that capture the soul of the ‘terroirs’ and the varietals that come alive here. 

Our name Miles from Nowhere not only alludes to the geographic remoteness of the vineyard, but also in recognition of our forebears who arrived in Australia some 100 years ago from the Ukraine, bewildered by what they were confronted with in their new home country, and feeling every bit Miles from Nowhere.

A love letter to the Tatelbaum women. From different generations and walks of life, they are the passionate, loving and fiercely loyal women that raised us. Going back to our origin of European wines, Tatelbaum is the story of the Tate family.

We come from the European family. They’re working class. They’re the big family in the small house. The best cooks. The tellers of stories, and the truth, but most importantly, they are our family, our culture, and our history. Tatelbaum is wine for home, for family, for friends and lovers. We are lovers of late night conversations, coming back for seconds and gazing out to the stars. We are hopeless romantics, endlessly devoted to the sweetest moments. Kisses on the forehead, coming home to flowers and a glass of wine.

The Tatelbaum range has been based around 5 women over generations of our family, each with larger than life personalities. For this reason, we have represented these women through illustration and storytelling that ties together the meaning of their name and essence of their personality.

Established as an offshoot of Miles From Nowhere in Margaret River, Small World is the young, fun sister we have launched in 2021. This wine was made from a love of Western Australia varietals, playful energy and an unbelievable price point.

The Small World range includes a fresh citrus Semillon Sauvignon Blanc, a bright Rosé that fits right in at Sunday brunch and a Shiraz Cabernet, like Black Forest cake in a bottle, for those who like to live on the darker side. The series caters to Western Australian wine lovers.

Ideal for summer days by the water and balmy nights laughing over delicious food, Small World embodies the friendly and bright nature of Western Australia and the small world that this state is. ‘Small World’ refers to the one degree of separation between the people that live in this state, despite our isolated and vast physical distance. This range caters to WA wine lovers who don’t want to break the bank for a good bottle of wine.

We were founded and are owned by Franklin & Heather Tate. Second generation winemakers in Margaret River they are the son and daughter-in-law of John & Toni Tate – doyens of the Western Australian Wine Industry and one of the four founding families of the famous Margaret River wine region.

Established in 2007 – Franklin Tate Estates marks a return by the Tate family to their roots with unique, hand-crafted wines from the world renowned Margaret River region of Australia. Franklin and Heather are committed to making wines of equal standing on the world stage, redolent in character and truly expressive of the ‘terroir’ of the Margaret River wine region.
